The London Eye

Our new 'mini-series' is going to be a river trip along the Thames from Westminster to Hammersmith. We start off near Waterloo Station and the London Eye. I have only been on the Eye once (in 2000, with my sister - who did not enjoy the experience). I thought it was great, and must go again. Twilight is probably the best time to 'fly'.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild:
Christ our God, to thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise.

Sung to the theme from Carousel? Or the Harry Lime theme?
Only kidding!

We are going to get an Eye in Melbourne; my son is excited. Why is twilight the best time to fly?

At twilight you have the best of both worlds - daylight when you start your flight, and approaching darkness (with all the lights coming on) when you finish the flight. Also, sunset can be quite dramatic. At midday you have none of this variation. Hope you enjoy the Melbourne Eye!
