I am the birthday boy!

Well, yes! It is my birthday today. I rather wish my birthday didn't usually fall in Lent, but I had no choice in the matter.

Here I am, pictured by the hymn board in the Chapel of the Resurrection. And here is a puzzle! My age is not one of the five numbers shown. It is (obviously?) a two digit number - both digits are different, and neither digit is on the board. So how old am I today?

Clue. The purple vestments clearly suggest that I am approaching the eventide of life! The Prep School (or former Prep) pupils might like to suggest why the frequent use of the 'I am' expression in this blog suggests that I am getting rather too grand ideas of myself in my old age!

There will be a small prize (Mars Bar) for the most amusing comment published!

Hello Mr Simpson!

Happy Birthday and happy new Year...Well, maybe not the latter, but it was New Year in China not so long ago! Anyway, you said we would get an UNKNOWN prize for the most amusing comment, but in this blog it says the prize is a Mars Bar. I want that Mars Bar! So here goes a joke...

There are four people on an airoplane: A stupid person (King of his country), a clever person(A banker), a medium person (a schoolboy), and the pilot.
The Pilot says:
"The plane is about to crash. The are only three parachutes, and I will take one, so one of you cannot live."
The King of his country(who was stupid) said:
"I am important, and must live." So he jumps out of the plane. The banker says to the schoolboy:
"One of us will not live!"
But the schoolboy replied:
"No, it's OK: that King took my schoolbag!"

That was from a student of Reverend Simpson: Michael, 7Y. Thankyou for laughing/not laughing (please circle).

Is the answer 46 or 44 for the question?

Dear Peter Simpson,
After spending a while studying your picture I would think that you are younger than you look especially with it being lent.NO alcohol is obviously NOT GOOD for you especially on your birthday!Your Mother is to blame. However I have decided that you are somewhere between 53 and 55.
A very happy birthday to you anyway
Sister Wendy and Brother John

Hiya. This is Flo from 7Y, Happy Birthday Rev. Simpson! My guess is 54. I'm no mathamatitian (or speller) so do not feel offended if I am very, VERY wrong. I'm also not one to join online compatitions but how could I resist a Mars Bar?! I would also like to congratulate Rev. Simpson on his religious fashion sense, purple is the new black! Your church robes are all the range this season. I'm no good with computers so could not work out all the mumbo jumbo around the identity thingymagig. So I am now officially, Anonymous... Sounds mysterious- Flo x :P

Thank you for the entries - John the Organist is of course correct - but he obviously spends so much time reading blog entries that he would not find the time to eat a Mars Bar!

So we have two winners - Michael and Flo. Michael has won a Mars Bar because he was so certain that I am still in my forties and provided us with a good joke. Flo has won a Mars Bar because she was the first person in my life (54 years) to compliment me on my dress sense!

Thanks Rev. Simpson for the Mars Bar, It was lovely. I'm surprised that nobody has commented on your fashion sense until now but i'm very happy to be the first! Heres a joke- Why did the chewing gum cross the road? - Because it was stuck to the foot of the chicken!

Heh Heh... Im a comic genius! NOT! Oh well, Maybe next time.

Yours Truly, Flo-7y. :P

Hi Rev - Simpson cool blog. I love all the photos
Florence really liked the mars bar. Florence has told me lots of good things about your lessons and I hope maybe one day I can come to Latymer and be taught RS by you, it's one of my favorite subjects next to Art and DT.

yours truly
