On Monday we shall be celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation of Our Lord to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This photo depicts the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary in Nazareth. Our Lady says 'be it unto me according to your word.' We have so much to learn from Mary! And so we pray: Heavenly Father, you chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the mother of the promised Saviour, and proclaimed the good news by the message of an angel: Fill us with the abundance of your grace, that, through the saving work of Christ, we may be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever. Amen.
We shall be starting Stations of the Cross tomorrow, leading up to the 15th Station - The Resurrection of the Lord, on Easter Sunday (8 April).

Beautiful picture and all the more striking because Our Lady is not wearing blue. It was a a truly Marian day today with a wonderful blue sky!
Yes, I'm not too sure where the idea of Our Lady wearing blue came from! We shall be meeting Mary again at the 4th Station of the Cross - wearing white this time!

The painting was done around 12 years ago by the Benedictine Nuns of Turvey Abbey in Bedfordshire, England. They published some A2 sized posters and an accompanying booklet.
I haven't come across any of their work recently - I don't know whether they are still doing this type of art work.
