Psalm 84

Here we have a very suitable image for the Feast of St Francis of Assisi.

How lovely is your dwelling-place,
Lord Almighty!

My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord:
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young - a place near to your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.

Blessed are they who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.

Wonderful. I was reading this psalm last night and very much moved, particularly the verse that says it is better to be on the threshold of God's house than to live fully in the tents of the wicked.
