Why is it that so few people venture away from the centre of things, when we were clearly invited to visit the whole garden? Thousands of people baked on the main lawn in temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius, whilst I was able to wander along the cooler paths, hardly meeting a soul. I half expected to bump into The Queen exercising her corgis - though sadly didn't!
