Genesis - 5

I'm afraid that things are going rather down market this Lent, and that it will not be long before I am ordered by the Vatican to raise the moral tone of this blog. Yes, today we have another distillery on Islay - this time Laphroaig. Laphroaig has been the only whisky to carry the Royal Warrant of the Prince of Wales (the 15-year-old is reportedly his favourite scotch whisky), which was awarded in person during a visit to the distillery in 1994. Not inappropriate, because today is St David's Day!

And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. (Genesis 1.20-23)

We are blessed with many birds and fish on the Scottish Highlands and Islands. It is good to hear the birds singing again as Spring approaches.

Happy Sunday!

  1. The snowdrops have been out down south but we are expecting a cold spell later in the week. Still I am optimistic!

  2. There are some lovely sweeps of snowdrops in the woods around Culloden - a real harbinger of Spring.
